The Aston Stealth is a moving-coil, dynamic microphone that's suitable for capturing voice-overs, sung vocals, guitars, and more. A cardioid microphone designed to minimize pickup on the sides, the Stealth offers four switchable voices that are tailored toward different audio signals. V1 and V2 are designed for vocalists. G is for guitar, be it electric, classical, or steel-string acoustic. D is for dark, and this is your vintage sound, with a timbre reminiscent of ribbon microphones.

As this is a dynamic microphone, the Stealth is designed to work without phantom power. However, it also makes use of an active circuit that automatically senses the presence of 48V phantom power and switches on a built-in Class-A mic preamp, effectively mitigating the need for external gain-lifting devices.

Speaking of mitigating, the diaphragm is housed in a Faraday cage that mitigates EMI and RFI, helping you ensure a noise-free capture. This microphone comes with a custom-designed, adjustable quick release stand mount. It has been used in a non smoking studio environment and was useful with its different parameters. The studio use of the unit for the variety of tonal characters by turning the mics bottom ring caused the erosion of the original markers but a sharpie was used to identify the 4 positions the mic allows.

Doté d'une directivité cardioïde conçue pour minimiser la captation latérale, le Stealth propose quatre profils sonores commutables, chacun optimisé pour un type de signal audio spécifique. Les modes V1 et V2 sont destinés aux voix. Le mode G est conçu pour la guitare, qu'elle soit électrique, classique ou acoustique à cordes acier. Le mode D (« Dark ») offre une sonorité sombre et vintage, avec un timbre rappelant celui des microphones à ruban. En tant que microphone dynamique, le Stealth est conçu pour fonctionner sans alimentation fantôme. Toutefois, il intègre un circuit actif capable de détecter automatiquement la présence d'une alimentation fantôme 48 V et d'activer un préampli micro interne de classe A, éliminant ainsi le besoin d'appareils externes pour booster le gain. Toujours dans une optique de réduction des perturbations, la capsule est logée dans une cage de Faraday qui atténue les interférences électromagnétiques (EMI) et radiofréquences (RFI), garantissant une prise de son sans parasites. Ce microphone est livré avec une fixation sur pied réglable et amovible rapidement, conçue spécifiquement pour ce modèle. Il a été utilisé dans un studio non-fumeur, où ses différents paramètres se sont avérés très utiles. L'utilisation intensive de la bague inférieure pour varier la signature sonore a fini par effacer les repères d'origine ; un marqueur indélébile a donc été utilisé pour identifier les quatre positions offertes par le micro.
