This is one of two 5E3 Tweed Deluxe 1x12 combos I built earlier this year and have been fine tuning over the summer before listing here. I built them under my amp brand, Whittler Amplification. I am listing them both here on Reverb separately. The only cosmetic differences are this one has a black leather handle and smaller mini toggle switches.

I took the classic 5E3 Tweed Deluxe circuit and adapted it to better suit modern players and components.

I custom made the turret board and adjusted the layout for better signal flow, ease of modding and service, and to prevent the warping issues that can come with using fiberboard.

The rectifier tube has been omitted to lower the noise floor and remove an additional source of heat and potential failure. A pair of sag resistors were added to the solid state rectifier stage from the power transformer secondaries to mimic the 'sag' you get when pushing a tube rectified amp.

The coupling caps have had their values adjusted to keep the bass signals from overloading too early and farting out when overdriven. A 470K grid resistor was added to the phase inverter to smoothen out the overdrive as well. These are great mods if you use a humbucker equipped guitar like myself and want the amp to have a more open sound when pushed.

The low inputs have been removed and replaced with a small 'link' switch you can jump both channels with needing a Y-cable or ABY box. Jumping channels adds a signal boost, especially if the channel volumes are mismatched.

There is an additional tone shift switch which changes the value of the tone cap from the stock 4.7nF to 680pF. The lower value boosts the high end frequencies and changes the sweep of the tone pot. This is great if you play with darker sounding guitar.

I used high quality capacitors and resistors from Vishay, Xicon, and CDM. Instead of radial capacitors, I designed the board to use radial electrolytic capacitors by Nichicon since the quality of axial caps continues to decrease as fewer products use them. Power and Output transformers are Heyboers I purchased from Mojotone.

The amp is currently set up close to 97% max plate dissipation at ~120 VAC wall voltage. Ships with a pair of Electro-Harmonix 6V6GTs and 7025 preamp tubes.

The 1x12 cabinet is tweed covered, slightly lacquered, and made by Mojotone. I replaced the medal skid feet with a pair of rubber feet so they would not scratch a hardwood floor or other amp cabinet.

Speaker is a 12 inch alnico Weber 12A125A, which I feel is best speaker for a 5E3 amp.

I take great pride in the craftsmanship of my work. You can see this from my seller feedback from previous amps I have built and sold here. These are priced to sell for I have another 5E3 project in progress I'm keeping for myself.
