PRISTINE Upton 251 — GE 6072 Tube Upgrade + Heavy-Duty Pelican Case & PSU

This is a PRISTINE Upton 251 microphone that comes with the heavy-duty pelican case and original Power Supply Unit (PSU).

I purchased the microphone earlier this year, and it has been extremely well cared for. There is absolutely nothing wrong with it. This was honestly an impulse purchase because I was eager to experience what the Upton 251 was capable of and it did not disappoint.

This is easily one of the most impressive microphones I have ever used. 

What sets your new Upton 251 apart from others is I did one of the best upgrades you can do with this mic by swapping the stock Electro-Harmonix tube with a 1950s–1960s GE 6072 tube, which I purchased for approximately $300.

IT SOUNDS FANTASTIC.

If you’re familiar with vintage 6072 tubes, you already know why this is such a desirable upgrade. Do your research on these tubes—the difference is something you can hear.

Why I’m Selling It,

Honestly, I’m going to regret it. However, I’m currently moving and trying to downsize my microphone locker. I typically reach for my Sony C800G out of habit, so this Upton simply isn’t getting the use it deserves.

I paid approximately $5,200 after taxes when I purchased it new but at this point, I’d rather see it go to someone who is actually going to put it to work.

If you’ve ever been blessed to used a real Telefunken 251, you will be shocked by how close this microphone can sound.

They DO NOT sell these mics with a shock mount so I did order the shockmount Telefunken recommends for the real Telefunken 251 which I will include.
