2015 Gibson Memphis ES-Les Paul Double Cream VOS – Lemon Burst – Rare Factory DiMarzio Model - 1 of 150 Produced

Up for sale is my 2015 Gibson Memphis ES-Les Paul Double Cream VOS in Lemon Burst, an exceptionally uncommon and distinctive version of Gibson’s semi-hollow ES-Les Paul.

This is the ESLP15LDNH1 Double Cream VOS configuration, not one of the more commonly encountered ES-Les Paul variants.

Rare Double Cream VOS Configuration

What really separates this model from the standard ES-Les Paul is the factory Double Cream configuration, featuring uncovered DiMarzio Double Cream humbuckers paired with a beautifully figured Lemon Burst/Lemon Drop VOS finish.

The combination gives the guitar a striking vintage-inspired appearance and makes it immediately recognizable from the more commonly encountered ES-Les Paul configurations.

These guitars don’t surface very often.

Stang Guitars documents this exact Double Cream VOS model and states that only 150 were produced. Their surviving reference page also documents the Double Cream DiMarzio humbuckers, bone nut, Historic Truss Rod, maple-ply construction, mahogany neck, rosewood fingerboard and original case.

Stang’s historical/reference price shown on the page is $4,499.

A Les Paul With ES Construction

Built by Gibson Memphis, the ES-Les Paul is a fascinating combination of two classic Gibson designs.

It retains the familiar Les Paul scale length, controls, carved-Les-Paul appearance and playing experience, but uses Gibson’s lightweight semi-hollow ES-LP construction rather than the traditional solid Les Paul body.

The result is an exceptionally comfortable and resonant Les Paul-style instrument with a more open and airy character than a traditional solidbody Les Paul.

This particular Double Cream version takes that concept even further with its factory DiMarzio pickup configuration.

Why This One Is Different

It’s a purpose-built Gibson Memphis ES-Les Paul with the uncommon factory Double Cream treatment.

Between the lightweight semi-hollow construction, figured Lemon Burst top, VOS treatment, Double Cream DiMarzios and the limited production reported by Stang Guitars, it’s one of the more interesting variations of the ES-Les Paul produced during the Gibson Memphis era.

The Double Cream pickups against the Lemon Burst finish are particularly striking in person.

The guitar presents beautifully and has been very well cared for.
