Description

This is an exceptionally clean John Packer JP159 Pocket Trumpet that appears to be completely unused and remains in essentially factory-new condition.

The trumpet is still protected in its original factory wrapping, and the original factory “OIL VALVES BEFORE PLAYING” placard is still with the instrument. The included accessories and case are also in remarkably clean, original condition.

This is about as close as you're likely to find to a New Old Stock (NOS) JP159 without purchasing one directly from a dealer.

The JP159 is a genuine Bb pocket trumpet, designed to provide the playing characteristics of a conventional Bb trumpet in an extremely compact package. Despite its small body, it uses a full-size 4.84" bell, making it much more than a novelty instrument.

John Packer describes the JP159 as having a bell the same size as a full-sized trumpet and designed to provide sound and playability as similar to a standard trumpet as possible.

The trumpet itself presents beautifully. The lacquer is exceptionally bright and clean, and the photographs show no evidence of normal playing wear.

Condition

Near-Mint / New Old Stock – Appears Unused

This is not a typical “used but excellent” pocket trumpet.

The instrument remains in its factory protective materials, including the original instructional placard. It appears to have been stored rather than played.

Because the horn is still in the factory wrapping and I am not aware of the instrument being placed into playing service, I am describing it conservatively as unused / New Old Stock rather than making an absolute claim that it has never been played.
