These two units are linked up and provide 16 mic or line inputs and 16 outputs (8 jack, 8XLR) . I have another of the behringer ADA units if you wanted an extra 8 ins and outs, I could do you a deal...
It's all class compliant so in my experience, you can just plug in and it works. I've had no issues with it as a interface to pro tools, logic and as an interface to the MPC live 2 (which is a fantastic use for something like this)
