XTA Electronics DP224 Digital Loudspeaker Management System

The DP224 is XTA's 2-in / 4-out loudspeaker management processor, the smaller sibling to the well-known DP226 and a long-running standard in touring rigs and installed systems. If you've run a British PA anywhere in the last twenty years, you've probably run through one of these. It's the box that sits between your console and your amp racks and handles everything: crossover, EQ, delay, and limiting.

Each input gets an 8-band parametric EQ. Each output adds crossover filters, a 5-band parametric EQ, selectable high and low shelving, delay up to 650 ms, and a full-featured limiter with control over attack, release, and threshold. That's 36 total filter sections across the unit. Crossover points are set with variable high and low pass filters offering 12, 18, or 24 dB per octave slopes in Butterworth, Bessel, or Linkwitz-Riley response, so you can match whatever alignment your cabinets want.

Resolution is where the XTA earns its reputation: 1/36 octave frequency steps, 0.1 dB gain increments, and Q adjustable from 0.4 all the way to 128. Double-precision processing on a 40-bit internal data path keeps dynamic range above 110 dB, so nothing gets muddied on the way through.

The front panel gives full input and output metering plus mute and access buttons for fast setup and gain changes, and a security lock-out protects your settings once the system is dialed in. You can also program and control the unit from a PC with XTA's AudioCore software. Single rack space, 19 inch chassis, electronically balanced XLR in and out.
