Vintage 1959 Ludwig 12” x 15” mahogany parade/marching snare drum, factory date-stamped August 18, 1959 inside the shell.
Features the desirable late-1950s Ludwig Transition Badge, wood hoops, single-tension hardware, a vintage Ludwig Parade Snare head, and what appears to be original or period-correct nickel-plated hardware. Based on the size and period Ludwig catalog information, this appears to be a No. 3071 Stadium Model Parade Drum.
The drum is in unrestored vintage condition with scratches, finish wear, tarnish, oxidation, and other normal signs of age and use. The shell has not been refinished and the hardware has not been polished. There is a small hole in what appears to be the original lower head. I cannot say it is the original head. However, it seems very old.
A nice collectible late-1950s Ludwig drum with an original date stamp, desirable Transition Badge, and plenty of vintage character.
