Rare 1984 Fender Flame Elite from Fender's short-lived Master Series, finished in Black and presented in exceptionally well-preserved, all-original condition.
The Flame was one of Fender's most unusual and ambitious instruments of the early/mid-1980s. Built in Japan as part of the high-end Master Series, the Flame shared its heritage with the closely related Fender Esprit – the design family that would later lead to Fender's Robben Ford models.
This particular Flame Elite is serial number C003065 and has been very carefully preserved. For a guitar that is more than 40 years old, the condition is exceptional. The high-gloss black finish remains beautiful, with no significant dings, buckle rash or other damage. There are only the light surface marks and natural hardware ageing that should be expected on an original instrument of this age.
To the best of my knowledge, the guitar is completely original, including pickups, electronics, tuners, controls and hardware.
This is the desirable version equipped with the original Fender/Kahler tremolo and fine-tuning bridge system, and the original tremolo arm is included.
Features include:
• Fender Master Series – Made in Japan
• 1984 production
• Serial no. C003065
• Black high-gloss finish
• Set-neck construction
• Bound body, neck and headstock
• Rosewood fingerboard with distinctive Flame inlays
• Two original humbucking pickups
• Original Fender/Kahler tremolo with fine tuners
• Original tremolo arm
• Original Fender tuners
• Original knobs, switches and electronics
• Original large Fender USA molded hardshell case
The guitar plays and functions as it should.
The Flame Elite was produced for only a relatively short period and is rarely seen today, particularly in this level of preservation and with its original case and hardware intact.
It is also a fascinating piece of Fender history: quite unlike the Stratocaster and Telecaster designs normally associated with the company, with its set neck, dual humbuckers, extensive binding and sophisticated electronics.
A very clean, collector-grade example of one of Fender's most interesting 1980s instruments.
I am happy to provide additional detailed photographs or information to serious buyers.
The guitar will be carefully packed for shipping inside its original hardshell case and an appropriate outer shipping carton.
