1951 L5-ces is shown to demonstrate fit....guitar not included. JUST THE CASE IS FOR SALE.
This is the nicest 17” Gibson black/purple archtop case I have yet found! SO CLEAN INSIDE AND OUT! Only the lightest of handling wear. It is really striking inside with beautiful purple and kind of a crushed velvet material. The case has an arched top AND back!!.....we were still making such nice cases back then!!
1959-style Excelsior latches and lock….. with original key.
The exterior is nearly perfect with only one very small repair to the valance strip on the headstock end….see pics. Luthier Mark Campellone repaired a small crack in the valence strip...it is barely noticeable.
GIBSON logo is stenciled in silver on the side. This era case was likely made for Gibson by Ess & Ess or Geib.
My 1951 L5ces with 3 and 3/8th inch rim is a glove fit.
A beautiful case to match to a 1969 through 1974 L5…..or any full depth Gibson 17 inch archtop (except Johnny Smith, which has a shorter body length).
