Founded in 1924, Kremona is one of those historic European manufacturers that has successfully preserved genuine luthiery expertise while continuing to offer instruments that remain remarkably accessible considering their level of craftsmanship. Made in Bulgaria, in the heart of Europe, Kremona guitars benefit from a long-standing artisanal tradition and an especially impressive mastery of solid wood construction. The Romida RDS is a perfect example of this philosophy: an ambitious, elegant and superbly built concert classical guitar offering a level of performance rarely found at this price point.

Its main strength is simply exceptional: this is a completely solid wood guitar. The solid European spruce top delivers precision, dynamic response and richness in the attack, while the solid Indian rosewood back and sides provide harmonic depth, projection and tonal complexity that laminated constructions simply cannot reproduce. Kremona has not stopped there, as the Romida also features an ebony fingerboard and bridge, together with a Honduran cedar neck. These are carefully selected, genuinely high-end tonewoods more commonly found on significantly more expensive instruments.

The result is a guitar with a rich, balanced and highly expressive voice. The spruce brings clarity and excellent note-to-note definition, while the solid Indian rosewood considerably expands the tonal spectrum with deep lows, generous mids and precise, singing trebles. Projection is excellent, with enough dynamic headroom to accommodate both delicate, nuanced playing and a more energetic attack. This is a guitar with real personality, and one that should continue to develop over time as its solid woods naturally open up and gain even greater richness and resonance.

The quality of construction also deserves special mention. The Artist Series represents Kremona's high-end craftsmanship, and this is immediately apparent in the attention to detail, the selection of materials and the overall balance of the instrument. The Romida RDS has the serious, mature feel expected from a true concert classical guitar, without reaching the sometimes extremely high prices associated with major boutique or artisan-built instruments.

This is precisely where this Kremona becomes particularly interesting. Compared with many Spanish classical guitars offered in a similar price range, the Romida RDS delivers an especially impressive combination of specifications, build quality and premium tonewoods. While some well-known models still rely on partially laminated construction or reserve their finest woods for higher-end ranges, Kremona offers here a genuine 100% solid wood construction, combining European spruce, Indian rosewood and ebony. From a strict value-for-money perspective, it therefore compares extremely favourably with many Spanish competitors.

The Romida RDS is consequently a guitar we would particularly recommend to demanding players looking to step into the world of a genuine all-solid classical guitar without moving into a significantly higher budget. A refined European instrument that is generous, expressive and superbly equipped, demonstrating once again why Kremona fully deserves its place among the great names of classical guitar making.
