This one is a 2016 Gibson Firebird VT in a beautiful vintage sunburst finish. It's the iconic example of Gibson's USA-made reverse-body design, featuring a mahogany/walnut, neck-through-body construction with mahogany wings.
The Gibson Firebird is a perfect choice for both blues and rock and was used by players like blues legend Johnny Winter, Lynyrd Skynyrd's Allen Collins, and Cream-era Eric Clapton.
Installed are Gibson Firebird mini-humbuckers which provide exceptional clarity, brightness, and vintage-articulate character. These are the hotter ceramic editions and have Ohms reading of 15k (neck) and 25k (bridge). This Firebird features Steinberger 40:1 ratio tuners which provide unmatched micro-tuning. These are lighter than the infamous piano tuners.
This guitar has been very well cared for and is in excellent condition. There are one or two very slight indentations on the body. I've included a photograph of one of them but they are very hard to see. The end of the headstock also has a very slight bit of wear but is again, hard to see.
The previous owner had stainless steel frets installed. These are amazing. I've never played with stainless steel frets and find them to be silky-smooth for bending and speed. And they'll last forever! The previous owner said he paid $600 for the re-fret. Personally, I kinda miss the fret nibs which I have on all my other Gibsons. The previous owner also buffed-out the pups, rings, bridge, and tailpiece so they are no longer chrome—they are more like buff nickel (see photos).
This Firebird weighs in at 7lbs 14ozs. It comes with a Epiphone tolex case which is in good condition. There are a few white scrape marks on the edges which do not break the surface.
Specs include:
1960 Slim Taper 9-ply Mahogany/Walnut Neck
Neck-through-body Construction
Rosewood Fingerboard With Pearloid Trapezoid
1.71" Nut Width
2 Volume, 2 Tone, 3-way Toggle Switch
Nashville-style Tune-o-matic Bridge
Stopbar tailpiece
Weighs 7lbs 13oz
I am selling this great guitar because I picked up a 2013 Firebird in classic white and I need to pass one of them on to its next proud owner. I have priced it lower than market because I have to pay for the white one. You all know how that goes. Feel free to make me a reasonable offer. Thanks for looking.
