This is a 2-3 year old Gibson Custom Shop 1963 Les Paul SG Custom with Maestro Vibrola, VOS, with Custombucker pickups. I bought it new. It is in beautiful shape, no dings, no fret wear, lovely checking. There was a headstock break when it was first shipped, hence the lower price. However, the break didn't go all the way through. It was only a crack in the back, and the repair by Rosewood Guitar Repair in Virginia is the best I have ever seen. It is barely visible and I have never been aware of it when playing. This guitar is a joy to play. Great action and nice acoustic response. I did change the wiring. First off, Gibson didn't have accurate vintage wiring in the first place (they didn't have the middle pickup out of phase), but also the vintage wiring is very limiting. The original wiring had 3 way switching allowing the neck, bridge, or bridge middle, with volume and tone controls for the neck and bridge pickups. I have changed the switching to choose the neck, bridge, or neck and bridge together (like on a two pickup sg), with an additional volume pot (in place of the neck tone pot) that can blend in the middle pickup, out of phase. Knobs are now three volumes and a master tone. This switching allows all pickup combinations and lets you dial in the amount of out of phase sound you want. I also chose a no load pot for the tone pot (it leaves the circuit when turned full on). This switching is a huge improvement. This is an absolutely superb guitar. I bought it as a nostalgia buy because my first good guitar was a real 1961 SG Les Paul with the impossible sideways vibrato. I am selling it because I am a single coil guy now and I just can't get sounds I like out of humbuckers. As much as I love this guitar, I need to let it go. If you are an SG person, this guitar is heaven.
