Forget VOS. If you want an Aged Gibson, Tom Murphy of Murphy Lab should be the name on your lips. My 1st impression was his Gary Rossington Les Paul, which still stands out as a guitar 'experience', not just a playtest. It felt like a legit vintage guitar, not one that had just been aged to look a certain way. This specific 59LPVOS guitar received the Ultra-Heavy Aging, so it has everything from weather checking to finish removed from the back of the neck and just about every other sort of aging one could reasonably imagine. 

The body is made from a single piece of mahogany. This piece is selected for its lightweight so chambering or weight-relieving is not necessary. A 2-piece, plain  top is used, and the whole thing comes together with hide glue. This is an exceptionally difficult glue to work with, and it takes experience, know-how, and timing to make it work. This adhesive is used only on Gibson's Top-Shelf Guitars. 

The neck is made from and carved into a Chunky C Profile. The neck features a long neck tenon, which means the neck extends into the neck pickup cavity, increasing sustain and stability. The neck and body come together with Hide Glue, as well. The fingerboard is made of Indian , carries a , and it's adhered to the neck with Hide Glue. come stock on this model and are a great choice for this neck profile. The pickups are a set of unpotted Alnico 3 loaded Custombuckers. Unpotted pickups don't feature the wax potting that many modern pickups have. This can result in some strange squealing or feedback in ultra-high-gain scenarios. However, with clean or overdriven amps, in low and medium-gain scenarios, unpotted pickups seem to sing with a little bit of extra everything that makes the hair on our arms stand up. Each pickup has its own volume and tone control. A 3-way pickup selector grants access to each pickup alone or in tandem.
