Here's an unusual and rare case for a Gibson Heritage 80 Les Paul from the early 80's. This listing is for the case only, which has a black liner, not a pink liner. The photo of the pink lined case is a sample used for reference to the other identifying parts/material and description of the case listed for sale.
That being said, it appears that the liner on this case was dyed black at the factory or manufacturer of the case, as it is extremely clean, aside from the small indications of pink fibers present (see photos). The foam block was detached when I acquired the case, which shows obvious signs that the liner was pink at some point. I decided to leave it off to show this evidence. The buyer can decide how they would like to re-attach it with either spray glue or velcro. There are also remnants of pink fibers on the edge of the liner, beneath the compartment handle and the red edges of the lid straps(see photos).
From what I've been able to find on this case is minimal, and that it was an early version of the Heritage 80 case that was later changed as there are a few variations. I was unable to find any black lined examples or information that any existed. The sample photo I provided was from a Reverb listing that sold about 5 years ago, with identical parts, similar colored tolex material, shape, design etc, sans the liner color and the back hinges. The case is shallower than a traditional Les Paul case as I understand the Heritage 80 had a shallower neck angle. So for anyone looking at this for a different Les Paul, it will not fit properly. I tried to fit a custom shop R9 in it, and the headstock would touch the bottom of the case. An actual '55 junior fit in the case with its neck angle correctly, aside from the body being thinner and moving freely.
The tolex has some damage; knicks ,scuffs, blemishes, etc that something of its age would have. I tried to provide photos of the majority of it. The liner has a wear spot on the treble side wall, likely from a tuning key(see photo). This is a 5 latch case, which all work properly with some marks and plating semi worn in spots, the spring is still good on the lock latch, but It does not have the key, handle is in good shape and not showing any signs of cracks. The rest of the case is solid.
I've tried to provide as much information as possible(maybe too much), if you made it this far, you know what you're looking at, please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Or if you are more familiar with these variations on cases, I'd appreciate any info.
