Double Bass Fingerboard - Ebony Free Alternative - Densified Sycamore

Brand new ebony alternative fingerboard

This is made from compressed densified sycamore layers, compressed to provide a sustainable ebony alternative.

As the wood has been densified, layered together with resin and pressed, this board works out at an equivalent density to ebony.

Ebony is now becoming endangered and hard to find and soon will become difficult to travel with as it is starting to be treated in the same manner as rosewood.

This material provides a stronger more stable alternative being more resistant to moisture and provides greater stability to the instrument.

This sycamore layered material can be planed and worked like a normal fingerboard to be fitted to your instrument.

The side walls are 14mm before the radius starts - this is deliberate to make sure there is extra clearance for low C extensions. No other fingerboards on the market currently allow for this.

Any waterproof ink or stain can be applied to bring back the dark black should the board be cut.
