Versatility is the name of the game with the Roland CM-30 CUBE. Not so much a jack-of-all-trades as it is a master of a few important ones that will serve you extremely well in multiple situations.
The Roland CM-30 Cube Monitor features a 6.5” high-quality 2-way coaxial speaker powered by a built-in 30-watt power amp. The sound put forth by this rugged, durable monitor is nothing short of spectacular considering its size and price.
Around the rear of the CM-30 Cube is a built-in 3 channel mixer. There’s plenty of connectivity for all types of cables. Channel 1 has an XLR input connector next to a ¼” input for a microphone or line input and channels 2 and 3 have mono/stereo ¼” inputs. Additionally there are 2 AUX channels, one featuring a stereo 1/8” mini-jack input and the other a L/R RCA pair of inputs. You can add a second CM-30 Cube for a complete stereo setup using the ¼” L/R Stereo Link inputs. This setup will also give you an additional 3 channels and another 2 AUX inputs, making for a total of 8 (count ‘em) eight stereo channels!
All the controls are located on the front of the unit. Volume knobs for channels 1 thru 3 sit right next to a stereo headphone input and it’s dedicated volume knob. Just next to that are Low and High EQ controls making it easy to dial in just the right tone for your given application. Rounding out the front panel controls is a Master Volume knob and the Power switch. The layout is simple and ergonomic making it a pleasure to change settings on the fly.
With it’s protective corner covers, sturdy metal grill, built-in handle grip and overall resilient design, the Roland CM-30, at only 12.5 lbs, is a joy to carry from the studio to the stage and anywhere you need clear, clean and present sound quality. Try on a pair…no mixer needed!
