Builder Jordan Clayton designed it from the ground up as a unique, all-analog architecture intended to mimic organic tube-amplifier breakup. While the exact schematic is kept close to the chest, its behavior highlights a non-traditional topology:

Unique Circuit Characteristics

• Interactive Passive Filtering: Unlike standard overdrive circuits where the tone control operates independently, the Ahab's tone stack is highly interactive with its gain stage.
• The "Reverse" Boost Trick: If you roll the tone control backward (accentuating the low frequencies), it acts as an internal bias shift, creating a simultaneous boost in both volume and gain. This is highly unusual for transparent overdrives, which typically lose power when rolling off highs.
• Discrete Component Tuning: It uses premium, high-grade audio capacitors (WIMA and Nichicon) configured specifically for crystal-clear note separation and dynamic tracking, meaning it responds directly to your guitar’s volume knob and pick attack.

Instead of leaning on a vintage pedal blueprint, the Ahab functions more like a clean-slate preamp designed to transparently color your signal while leaving your core guitar tone completely intact.
