Personal Thoughts:
This is a really classy older Custom Shop SG and a great interpretation of the mid-’60s specification. The Cherry finish has a deeper, richer appearance than the brighter early-’60s cherry shades, and paired with the rosewood board, large pickguard and Maestro Vibrola it has that unmistakable ’64 SG look.

The Maestro is a big part of the appeal here, both visually and from a playing point of view. It gives the guitar the elegant long-tailpiece appearance associated with some of the most desirable vintage SGs, while allowing for subtle vibrato work without changing the essential character of the instrument. The mahogany construction and dual-humbucker layout provide the familiar open, aggressive SG voice, with plenty of bite, midrange and sustain.

Being a 2010 Custom Shop example also gives it some genuine age now, and the combination of the original VOS treatment with light natural use suits the vintage-inspired specification perfectly. A very attractive SG for someone who wants an older Custom Shop reissue with plenty of character rather than a pristine modern example.

Condition Report:
Very good condition. There are some minor impressions, light marks and general playwear consistent with careful use and age. The VOS finish and aged hardware form part of the original factory specification, with the additional wear being genuine subsequent use. Overall, the guitar presents very well for a 2010 instrument.
