Beautiful 2002 Taylor 555ce 12-string acoustic-electric in exceptionally clean condition.
This is one of Taylor’s older, full-size Jumbo 12-strings, from an era when Taylor’s reputation for building remarkably playable 12-string guitars was already firmly established. The 555ce pairs a solid spruce top with solid mahogany back and sides, giving this guitar a huge, rich 12-string voice while retaining the warmth, focus and balance that make mahogany such a wonderful tonewood.
This particular guitar is an exceptionally nice example. It has been very carefully cared for and shows remarkably little evidence of its age. The finish, top, back, sides and neck are all extremely clean. Please examine the photographs for condition.
And it sounds every bit as substantial as it looks. This is a big, powerful 12-string with tremendous harmonic richness and projection, but the mahogany keeps the sound focused and musical rather than overly bright or splashy.
It also plays beautifully. Taylor has long been known for making unusually comfortable and playable 12-strings, and this guitar is an excellent example.
The guitar has the Fishman electronics system used by Taylor prior to the company’s later Expression System. The electronics are functioning properly and make the guitar fully ready for stage or amplified use.
The Venetian cutaway provides excellent upper-fret access while preserving the big, resonant character of the Jumbo body.
Serial number: 20020827110, dating the guitar to August 27, 2002.

The guitar plays beautifully and has the comfortable feel for which Taylor 12-strings are well known. The current strings are older and due for replacement, so the next owner can choose their preferred brand and gauge.
This is a particularly beautiful example of Taylor’s discontinued mahogany Jumbo 12-string — an all-solid-wood, American-made instrument from a highly regarded period of Taylor production.
If you’re looking for the enormous harmonic character of a great 12-string without sacrificing clarity, warmth or playability, this 555ce delivers it in abundance.
