The Assemblage DAC-1 is a classic vintage digital-to-analog converter kit released in 1995 by The Parts Connection, which was a mail-order division of the high-end audio manufacturer Sonic Frontiers.
Originally sold assembled for $650 (over $1,400 in today's money), or as a kit for $449. This unit seems to have been factory assembled.
The DAC 1 features a dual 20-bit processor architecture utilizing Burr-Brown PCM-series DAC chips paired with an Analog Devices AD847 op-amp chip for the output driver stage.
Reviewers from Stereophile praised the DAC-1 for delivering a coherent, comprehensible soundstage that punched well above its price tag. It is characterized by its mid-band warmth and smooth presentation, though it does experience some minor high-frequency irregularities when handling loud, aggressive pitches compared to much higher-end competition.
This unit is in very good cosmetic condition, with only a few surface scuffs on the bottom panel. It is fully functional, and sounds amazing!
Comes with a 30 day warranty, and free shipping in continental USA.
