Neumann U47 FET - Vintage Mid-1980s - Original Capsule
Vintage Neumann U47 FET, serial #6979. Dating to the mid-1980s, the final years of Neumann's original production run (1969-1986).
Original K47 FET capsule, never replaced. I've owned this mic for 28 years and it has never been recapsuled or modified.
I bought this mic directly from Stan Lynch (original drummer for Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers). Per Stan, it saw heavy use on his sessions with Henley. Two owners total, from his hands to mine.
I know a lot of people love these on kick drum, but honestly I think it's one of the most underrated vocal mics I've ever heard. It's really easy on the ears, and I especially love it on vocals or acoustic guitar. Sometimes on a cleanish guitar amp too, like a Fender Deluxe.
Condition: Mint. Looks and sounds flawless.
