For sale is a TEAC 2300S 7 inch 4 track 2 channel stereo Reel to Reel tape deck recorder. It is in very good condition albeit with some scuffs and marks as shown and very minor wear on one panel. Refer to pics. It has been tested, serviced, calibrated and the heads were cleaned and demagnetized for the best sound ever. The mic inputs were tested and they work as well as the other inputs. The pots and switches were sprayed and the metal parts were lubed as well. Both channels are clear and superb sounding as well. The deck has a 4 track playback head as well. The belts and caps were checked and they’re good. All the functions work and the VU Meters light up and jump like they are supposed to. The heads are in very good shape with minimal wear (which is inevitable for older electronics). The sound when recording at 3 3/4 IPS is very clear and better and wider sounding than the Source recording from, depending on the type of tape used and better at 7 1/2 IPS . The price is $599.99 !

SERIOUS BUYERS PLEASE!!!

I’m not going to sugarcoat this: As an online seller of 21 years,  the trading environment is not what it used to be years ago.

It used to be people would make offers with sellers and they would go back-and-forth negotiating until they found a price they could both agree on.

That no longer seems to be the case.

It now seems people either add these items to their watchlist with no intention of making a purchase or they are hoping to passively pressure a seller into dropping the price because they can’t be bothered to use the “make an offer” button.

When It comes to pricing these units: it’s not just because of the quality or the cosmetic or functional condition of the unit, but also due to the time and money invested into diagnosing and repairing any issues that I come across as as well as finding the parts needed for restoration and extensive testing to make sure that repair work held up in addition to fixing any last-minute bugs before shipment of these units.

Many people unfortunately seem to miss that.

Some people add these items to their watchlist or shopping cart just looking for some attention because they’re bored, some do it because they’re curious if it’ll sell and others, they can’t afford the item but do it anyway because it’s a hobby to them.

As I’ve stated before, I really appreciate the admiration of my listings, but this is an online e-commerce store— not an art exhibit. Not a museum. Not an ancient picture gallery.

This is not about being a jerk or about being impatient. 

It’s about the basic awareness of online sellers, like myself simply trying to make an honest and decent living to pay the bills, put food on the table and be able to offer more of these great units. That is not possible if there is an army of window shoppers who aren’t serious about working something out pricewise on something we can both agree on.

There is a fine line between making an informed purchasing decision, doing your due diligence, waiting on a paycheck, and simply adding an item to your watchlist or shopping cart with no genuine intention of buying it. In my experience, I feel like that line has been crossed repeatedly. 

While I completely understand that serious buyers may need time to research, compare options, or wait until they’re financially ready, I’ve also seen many cases where people watch, save, or inquire about an item but with no real intention of completing the purchase. After encountering that pattern enough times, its not hard to recognize the difference between legitimate interest and casual browsing.

Windowshoppers and casual browsers do not pay the bills.

I’ve tried to be nice and professional about things. 

I’ve tried to work with people on something we can both agree on pricewise.

I’ve tried to give people the benefit of the doubt.

I’ve tried to assume there was at least one serious buyer out of all the others. 

There wasn’t.

The same things kept happening over and over again. 

As a result, I have really had to enforce my boundaries by removing and reposting my listings and permanently banning several people from my store. I have done this at the risk of driving good and decent potential customers away. That is how bad it has gotten recently.

I’m not trying to be rude and I’m truly sorry for sounding like a real jerk about this, but frankly it truly does get exhausting dealing with grown adults who don’t ”get it”, and who act like teenagers hiding behind the screen with that much time and that little going on that they have to be playing games, especially tirekickers who don’t take the time to read the listing, ask questions that are already answered in the listing, which I then give them the same answers, and then they ghost me.

That is the problem with society today, many sellers are so used to rewarding rude and entitled behavior for the fear of looking like the bad guy and being unable to pay the bills that people with such behavior dont know what boundaries are until they meet a seller who actually lays down the law and somehow that seller is the bad guy.

All of this being said, those who understand where I’m coming from, I want you to make a purchase if you want to make a purchase. But If there’s anybody that’s offended by any of this, you’re MORE THAN WELCOME to leave this page and take your business elsewhere!

My boundaries are here to stay and I am not undercutting my value and 21 years of experience to make entitled, wishy-washy, and insecure people feel better.
