Zildjian - 30" Traditional Gong c. 1950s

This 30" Zildjian Traditional Gong from the 1950s was handcrafted from cast B20 bronze and traditionally hammered before fine lathing. This gong is equally suited for concert percussion, studio work, theater productions, progressive rock, and drum set uses.

Excellent condition with no damage, nicks, flea bites or cracks. We didn't clean it. We left all of the glorious grit and grime to keep this baby sounding dark and mysterious.

This gong was owned by drummer, Jackie Mills. His name remains stenciled on the back of the gong. While he's not a household name, he had a long and successful career as a drummer and producer. In the 1940s and 50s he played with legends like Benny Goodman, Dizzy Gillespie, Charlie Barnet, and Tommy Dorsey and was the primary drummer for the Harry James Orchestra.
