About This Model

The Bowers & Wilkins PV1D is a compact active subwoofer built around a distinctive spherical die-cast pressure vessel enclosure, engineered to eliminate cabinet resonance entirely. Inside sit two opposed 200mm Paper-Aramid Fibre/aluminium cone drivers working in a force-cancelling configuration, driven by a 400-watt Class D amplifier. DSP technology derived from B&W's flagship DB1 subwoofer is on board, along with five preset EQ modes for tailoring output to different speaker configurations or content types. The PV1D accepts both stereo line-level RCA inputs and speaker-level inputs and outputs, making it straightforward to integrate into systems with or without a dedicated subwoofer pre-out. An OLED display with touch-sensitive controls handles setup, while a frequency response of ±3dB from 7.5Hz to 450Hz underlines the unit's capability at genuine sub-bass frequencies.
