Made in Japan, the Edwards E-CS-140 Crying Star Classic, the signature model of Syu from the legendary Japanese power metal band Galneryus.
The guitar is in very good condition and shows normal signs of use. There are several dents on the tips of the wings along with some scratches on the back of the body, all purely cosmetic. It is structurally excellent and fully functional.
The Crying Star Classic features a mahogany body, mahogany set neck, and a rosewood fingerboard with 24 frets and pearloid block inlays. The set-neck construction and medium 24.75" scale provide excellent sustain and a smooth, comfortable playing feel.
This example has been upgraded with a genuine EMG 85 in the neck and EMG 81 in the bridge, replacing the original Seymour Duncan pickups. The EMG 85 delivers thick, fluid lead tones with excellent warmth, while the EMG 81 provides the aggressive attack, tight low end, and articulation that have made it one of the most iconic metal pickups ever produced.
An additional active preamp has also been professionally installed and is engaged via a mini toggle switch, offering an extra level of tonal flexibility and increased output when required.
Additional features include Gotoh tuners, a Gotoh Tune-O-Matic bridge with stop tailpiece, and a simple control layout consisting of master volume, master tone, 3-way pickup selector, and mini toggle switch for the onboard preamp.
The Edwards Crying Star Classic is one of the most recognizable Japanese signature models, combining boutique-level build quality with a unique design inspired by Syu's ESP instruments. With the upgraded EMG 81/85 set and onboard preamp, this example is perfectly suited for modern metal while retaining the outstanding craftsmanship Edwards is known for.
