This is a rare opportunity to own an early production Demeter VTDB-2 from the beginning of James Demeter’s legendary run. This is not a later VTDB-2B — this is an original first-generation unit from the Innovative Audio Systems / early Demeter era, featuring the distinctive early block stencil front panel layout.

Inside, this unit shows the craftsmanship that made these early Demeter pieces so respected: hand-wired construction, vintage components, tube circuitry, and original internal handwritten bench markings ("RAM JR / 11592 / DEM REF").

Sonically, the VTDB-2 delivers the unmistakable character engineers and musicians look for: rich tube warmth, harmonic detail, and a larger-than-life presence on bass, guitar, vocals, keyboards, and studio sources.

This is a beautiful example of early Demeter engineering and would make an incredible addition to a serious recording studio or vintage gear collection

CONDITION & TESTING

Tested and working. This VTDB-2 was recently tested with electric bass and passed functional testing with excellent results. It sounds exactly like you'd expect from a quality vintage tube direct box, delivering rich, warm, musical tube character.

It has been well preserved, but it is several decades old and may show minor signs of age and use.
