Some amps just have it — that elusive, indefinable quality that no specification sheet can fully capture and no reissue has ever completely replicated. The Fender Princeton Reverb is one of those amps, and the early 1970s examples are among the most musical of the entire run. Leo Fender's original company had long since passed to CBS by this point, but the craftsmen in Fullerton were still producing amplifiers of genuine character — and the Princeton Reverb of this era is proof. Twelve watts of all-valve power through a single 10-inch speaker delivers a sound that is immediately, unmistakably Fender: glassy and detailed at lower volumes, blooming into a warm, harmonically rich breakup as the volume climbs. The onboard tube-driven spring reverb is lush and three-dimensional in the way only a genuine tank can be, and the tremolo is deep, warm, and hypnotic. It is, by any measure, one of the most usable and satisfying amplifiers ever built — beloved by recording artists, session players, and touring musicians alike for its ability to sound spectacular in any room at any volume. This example is in excellent condition for its age and is ready to play.
