Up for sale is a professionally modified Shure SM57 dynamic microphone featuring two popular mods: the Transformerless (TapeOp) mod and the Granelli right-angle body mod. This is the SM57 that recording engineers and drummers have been chasing - warmer, more open, and more versatile than a stock SM57, while retaining that legendary dynamic punch.

What's Been Modified:

Transformerless Mod (TapeOp mod): Transformer removed for ~10dB more headroom, reduced harsh resonances, improved low-end response, and a warmer, more natural tone compared to a stock SM57

Granelli Right-Angle Mod: Body angled for flush snare drum placement, keeping the mic out of the way of cymbals and the drummer - a must-have for tight kit setups

Fully functional: Operates exactly as intended post-mod

Sound Character:

Removing the transformer opens up the low end and eliminates the harsh upper-midrange coloration of modern SM57s, delivering the warm, punchy, "smack"-forward character that vintage SM57s are beloved for. The result is a dynamic microphone that sounds open and natural without sacrificing attack - perfect for snare drum, guitar amp, brass, and beyond.

Condition:

Used Shure SM57, modified by me personally. In good cosmetic condition with some minor wear (please see photos). Both mods have been cleanly executed and the microphone is fully functioning as intended. I have performed and sold several of these modified SM57s with consistently great feedback from buyers.
