Overview
The Rickenbacker Model 59 underwent a minor change in its second year of production, adding a second control knob which quickly moved from the opposite side of the volume control to the same side. The later Shaded Gray instruments are difficult to distinguish from the later "NS" model, but can be easily identified by confirming that the width of the pickup magnet is 1 1/2".
