A Gibson EH-100 Lap Steel from 1940. Built in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Finished in dark mahogany. Equipped with the original P-13 pickup and comes in the original Geib Aeroplane Cloth Case.
In 1940, the EH-100 was an affordable electric model from Gibson. But it was certainly not a simple entry-level instrument. Electric playing was still in its infancy. Gibson built the EH-100 solidly, but without unnecessary embellishments.
The solid mahogany body is simple and purposeful. That typical understated look. No bindings or extravagant details. Just a sleek design that revolves around sound and sustain.
The original P-13 pickup sounds open and powerful. Lots of definition. Clear where it needs to be and full in the middle. Complete with the original Geib Aeroplane Cloth Case.
