1936-37 L-50 Sunburst, converted to a Charlie Christian Model with a period pickup.  Super Sound ! code GI86  

Gibson L-50 Sunburst circa 1938 professionally converted to a Charlie Christian Model with a period pickup. Script Pearl Logo. Wood Crosspiece on tailpiece, arched back, Correct repro pickguard and Original knobs. Straight Neck with a very nice Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard and good frets ready to play. Beautiful original rosewood bridge. Good working original tuners. Repaired and stable top crack. Come in a period hard case

The guitar is indeed a mid to late 1930's L-50.. with the small mother of pearl logo, it cannot be anything else. The pick up is indeed a Gibson that was taken from a lap steel, with the blade cut for the first three strings.. the pickguard is of course a lovely copy extremely well made with correct materiel and binding to accommodate the pick up.. the rosewood bridge however "peculiar" in appearance  is absolutely original to the guitar.. as well as the tailpiece where the decision was made to add a piece of rosewood, to give perhaps a warmer tone to the sound.. the knobs are original bakelite taken from the lap steel.. No serial or FON Looking thru the shipping records there are a few L-50's that have no serial number listed for 1936-37.

This is a fantastic guitar, unique in many ways, great sounding and playing!
