Calling all Old-Time and Clawhammer players! Up for sale is a beautiful Recording King Madison RK-OT25 open-back banjo. The instrument was built in March 2018 during the highly regarded "Greg Rich era" of the company. These pre-2025 models are celebrated in the traditional community for their solid woodwork, attention to vintage specs, and deep, authentic old-time voice. Since this model is now discontinued, finding one from this prime production era in Europe is getting incredibly difficult.

This banjo is a dream for traditional pickers who want a rock-solid, gig-ready setup with premium structural features:

Key Old-Time Specs:

- Built-In Adjustable Truss Rod: Unlike many competitor open-backs in this price range (such as the Deering Goodtime series), the Madison neck features a fully adjustable truss rod. This provides perfect long-term stability and easily accommodates heavier string gauges without risking neck warp.

- Frailed/Scooped Fretboard: Features the factory scoop over the pot, allowing you to comfortably strike the strings over the neck for that deep, fat clawhammer sweet spot.

- 11" Remo FiberSkyn Head: Delivers the perfect, authentic "plunky" old-time tone—warm, round, and rich in the low-end, completely free of unwanted modern brightness.

- Vintage Hardware: Equipped with a traditional No-knot tailpiece, a multi-ply Maple rim, a satin Maple neck, and smooth planetary tuners that hold tuning flawlessly.

Condition:

The banjo is in excellent condition and has been exceptionally well cared for in a smoke-free, humidity-controlled home. The neck is perfectly straight, the frets show minimal to no wear, and the truss rod functions perfectly.
