ADA MP-1 Tube Guitar Preamp – Vintage 19" Rack Preamp – Possible Rectifier Mod

For sale is an original ADA MP-1, the legendary programmable tube guitar preamp that became a staple of professional guitar rack systems in the late 1980s and early 1990s.

The MP-1 is famous for its distinctive tube-driven tones, ranging from sparkling cleans to saturated, harmonically rich high-gain sounds. Used by countless professional guitarists, it remains one of the most iconic rack preamps of its era.

Features:

• Original ADA MP-1 tube preamp
• Two 12AX7 preamp tubes
• Three voicings: Solid State Clean, Tube Clean and Tube Distortion
• Programmable gain, EQ and output settings
• Built-in stereo chorus
• MIDI-controllable presets
• 19-inch rackmount format (1U)

Possible Rectifier Modification:

The unit reportedly has a Rectifier Mod, but I have no documentation confirming the modification or its exact specifications.

I therefore cannot guarantee which modification was performed or by whom. The unit is being sold as pictured, without any claims regarding the modification. I included a gut shot for reference.

All I can say is that I had 4 of these preamps throughout the years and this one is BY FAR the best of them. Low noise floor, excellent string separation, just a fun unit to work with. I just don't do rack anymore and things don't get better from lying around...

Condition:

Good used vintage condition, with some cosmetic imperfections:

• The retaining nut on the front-panel input jack is missing.
• The display is slightly pushed inward in one area but remains fully functional and readable.
• Normal signs of age and use.

Please examine the photos carefully for cosmetic details.

The ADA MP-1 is a genuine classic of the rack era and a great choice for players looking for authentic late-'80s and early-'90s guitar tones.

Included: ADA MP-1 preamp.
