Fender Bassman 135 + Fender Pyramid 4×12 Cabinet — Rare Vintage Fender Tube Rig
For sale is a vintage Fender Bassman 135 tube amplifier head, paired with its distinctive Fender Pyramid 4×12 speaker cabinet — a striking and increasingly sought-after vintage Fender combination.
Fender Bassman 135
The Bassman 135 is a powerful 135-watt all-tube amplifier, featuring four 6L6GC power tubes and Fender’s distinctive ultralinear output stage. It delivers substantial clean headroom, strong dynamics and the characteristic punch, depth and presence associated with vintage Fender tube amplifiers.
With its two channels and four inputs, the Bassman 135 was designed primarily as a high-powered bass amplifier, but its powerful and responsive tube circuit has also made the model popular in recording studios and among musicians looking for a distinctive vintage Fender sound.
The model has a particularly interesting history. Bassman 135 amplifiers have been used by artists including Paul McCartney and Jeff Buckley, while documented examples have also appeared in studio environments associated with Duran Duran and Arctic Monkeys. These references are to the model itself and are not a claim of artist provenance for this particular amplifier.
Fender Pyramid 4×12 Cabinet
The matching Fender Pyramid 4×12 cabinet is arguably one of the most visually distinctive speaker cabinets Fender produced during this era.
Unlike a conventional rectangular 4×12, the Pyramid uses a unique angled, multi-section construction, creating its unmistakable pyramid-shaped appearance. The cabinet houses four 12-inch speakers and is an impressive piece of vintage Fender design in its own right.
The combination of a Bassman 135 head with a Pyramid cabinet is a particularly striking vintage Fender setup, combining the substantial power of the 135 with one of Fender’s most unusual and recognizable speaker enclosures.
Three of the four speakers are original to the cabinet; one speaker has been replaced.
