The '57 Les Paul Custom is historically known as "Black Beauty," arguably one of the most elegant and beautiful guitars ever made.

The guitar features a smooth ebony fingerboard, which provides a clear tonal quality to the ear. The body is entirely constructed from mahogany, generating a warmer and more "midrange" tone compared to the Les Paul Standard model.

This guitar from the Historic Collection includes all "True Historic" plastics, as well as all the technical specifications that have established this series from the Gibson Custom Shop as "state of the art."

Specifically, the guitars are made entirely with ultra-selected woods, animal glues, extremely thin nitrocellulose finishes for maximum resonance, unshielded truss rods, one-piece fingerboards, and True Historic plastic parts.

For 2019, this already extraordinary set of technical details includes improved fingerboard inlays, which are now even more aesthetically faithful to those used in the 1950s, and period-correct frets: specifically, we find smaller frets on all models that replicate instruments from before 1959.

Finally, special mention should be made of the electronics, which consist of the new Custom Bucker pickups, Alnico III, now offered in a non-paraffined version, and a set of Bumble Bee capacitors that are perfectly identical to the originals.

This specific instrument was requested as a special order through the Gibson Custom Shop's Made 2 Measure program, in order to provide an instrument in a wonderfully rare "Full Cherry" finish.
