The Gibson Custom Shop Slash Signature Les Paul Standard Piezo is one of the first and most distinctive signature Les Paul models Gibson created for Slash.
Produced by the Gibson Custom Shop, this instrument is based on vintage-style Les Paul Standards and features a combination of two Seymour Duncan Alnico II Pro pickups and a Fishman Powerbridge/Powerchip piezo system.
This model is closely associated with the Velvet Revolver era;
Slash described this Les Paul as his primary guitar during the band's tours.
The Custom Shop series was limited to 1,200 instruments and predated the subsequent Slash Les Paul Standard produced by Gibson USA.
This specific unit is number 627 of 1,200.
The number "SL 627" represents the signature model's sequential numbering rather than a standard Gibson serial number containing year-of-manufacture coding.
Consequently, a factory checklist lacking a year designation is perfectly consistent with this type of instrument.
Produced between 2004 and 2011;
this specific unit dates to 2007–2008.
