1967/1968 Epiphone Casino Sunburst, Long Neck (335 Neck Version)

The Epiphone Casino E-230TD was produced from 1961 at the Gibson factory in Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA, along with the nearly identical Gibson ES-330TD. Both were hollow-body 16" Thinline models, differingonly in a few cosmetic features. Both had a neck-to-body joint at the 16" fret throughout the 1960s and from 1967/68, with one significant change for both models in the form of a joint at the 19" fret, like the Gibson ES335.                                                                                       With just over 500 Casinos produced between 1968 and 1970, when the model was discontinued, the "long neck" version of the E-230TD is a rather rare instrument. Thisparticular guitar is factory-fitted with a tailpiece calledthe "Frequensator," usually reserved for EpiphoneSheraton and Riviera models but frequently seen on Casinos built between 1967 and 1970.                                          

The guitar plays beautifully, as you would expect from a valuable vintage instrument. It is in excellent condition both aesthetically and structurally, apart from some minor signs of wear. It is completely original in all its parts.                            

Ithas no modifications or repairs except for the cosmeticfilling of two small holes on the top near the tailpiece, which originated from the previous installation of a B7 “Bigsby” lever, which was later removed.                                                                                           A thin layer of felt has been applied under the bridge pickup(completely removable if not desired) to optimize the pickup volume without having to raise the expansionscrews too much under the strings, as often happens with non-adjustable pickups such as the P90 dog ear.                                                                                                             

The original frets have some wear but are still playable, the string action is quite low for excellent playability.                                                                                         The “Truss Rod” works perfectly, the neck is straightenough.                                 The original “KlusonDeluxe” Double Line tuners work perfectly.                           The fingerboard width at the nut is 40mm as for all Gibson/Epiphones from the 1965-1970 period.                                                                                                             The original pickguard is 4 layers: white, black, white, black.

The original Gibson “ABR-1” bridge, the pickup covers and the tailpiece are chromed as for all Gibson/Epiphones from the 1965-1970 period.                                                                                                                                                                                                                           The pickups measure: 8.50K at the bridge, 8.43K at the neck.                                      The guitar weighs 2.75 kg.                                                                                                  

The non original case is a well preserved Gibson brownES335 from the 1990s.
