Boss MD-2 Mega Distortion Pedal

NIJMEGEN, Netherlands

About this listing

The Boss MD-2 Mega Distortion, introduced in 1999, was developed for heavy modern styles and remains one of the most aggressive distortion pedals in the Boss compact series. At its heart is a dual-stage distortion circuit: the Dist control sets the primary amount of distortion, while the separate Gain Boost control adds an additional layer of gain and saturation, producing thick, heavily saturated tones with long sustain. The dedicated Bottom control boosts the low frequencies, making the pedal particularly well suited to down-tuned six-string and seven-string guitars, while the Tone control balances the high and low end. The Level control sets the overall output volume. This character makes the MD-2 a natural match for metal, doom, stoner and other bottom-heavy genres, from crushing rhythm parts to heavy lead lines. This example no longer carries its rear specification label; otherwise it is the standard Boss compact housing with the familiar buffered bypass, powered by a 9-volt battery or an optional PSA adapter.Confirmed users of the Boss MD-2 include Simon Neil (Biffy Clyro), Yoshiaki Manabe (The Pillows) and Jon Fratelli (The Fratellis).
