Knurling on the upper portion of the edge of the knob. Set screw fixing to a standard 1/4" solid shaft pot. Yes, this knob will fit your '50s-'60s Gretsch EXACTLY. Also fits many NEW Gretsch guitars distributed by Fender Musical Instruments.
