Reintroduced in 2001, Gibson produced a double cutaway version of the Les Paul Standard known as the Les Paul Standard Double Cutaway Plus. The shape of this guitar is similar to that of the Les Paul Special from the late '50s. These guitars typically exhibited a highly figured maple top.
