The AG 5J-60 pickups are single-coil pickups for 5-string bass, designed to recreate the sound and character of mid-1960s Fender Jazz Basses, particularly the 1963 models. Aguilar has used period-correct components, including Alnico V magnets, 42 AWG Heavy Formvar copper wire and single-conductor, cloth-covered wiring. These passive pickups feature a custom winding developed by Aguilar to ensure excellent string balance, particularly on the low B string. Their tonal character combines warmth, full and well-defined lows, rich mids and articulate highs, with excellent dynamics and clarity. The set includes a neck and bridge pickup, specifically calibrated to work together. They can also be paired with an Aguilar OBP active preamp for additional tonal flexibility.
