Crazy Tube Circuits White Whale V2

This is a real spring reverb and a real analog tremolo in one box, not modeled versions of either. There’s an actual 3-spring tank in there, which is why it drips and splashes the way an amp’s built-in reverb does instead of the smoother, more controlled sound you get from most reverb pedals.

The reverb side gives you three tank voicings via a toggle — a shorter 2-spring setting for something tighter, a medium 2-spring option that sits closer to what you’d hear from a blackface amp, and the full 3-spring setting for deep, dense surf tones. Dwell, tone, mix, and volume round out the controls, so you can shape how much signal hits the springs and how bright or dark the wet signal comes back.

Tremolo runs independently from the reverb, with its own footswitch, and gives you three distinct circuits: opto (the classic blackface pulse), tube bias, and harmonic — which modulates frequency rather than volume, so it has a different character than the other two. You can also choose whether the tremolo sits before or after the reverb in the signal path, which changes the texture noticeably. Tube and opto tend to sound better placed after the reverb; harmonic tends to sound better placed before it.

Both sections remember their bypass state when you power up, and there’s a remote jack if you want to run bypass control through an external switcher. Expression pedal inputs are onboard too — one for reverb mix, one for tremolo speed (or tap tempo).

It’s not a small pedal, and it’s not cheap, but it’s genuinely doing two amp-tier analog effects instead of approximating them. If you’ve been chasing real spring drip or real tube-driven tremolo instead of a digital stand-in, this is built for exactly that.

Reverb: Dwell, Tone, Mix, Volume, 3-way tank size toggle (short/medium/long) Tremolo: Speed, Depth, Volume, 3-way mode toggle (Opto/Tube Bias/Harmonic), Pre/Post order switch I/O: Remote switcher jack, dual expression pedal inputs Power: 9V DC, center negative, 180mA Bypass: True bypass, independent footswitches with power-up state memory
