This is the rare and highly sought-after configuration featuring three authentic Firebird pickups (not the P-90s version that is available in larger numbers).

Firebird Pickups vs. Mini-Humbuckers: True Firebird Tone Without Hum

It is important to highlight that this guitar is equipped with authentic Gibson Firebird pickups - not ordinary mini-humbuckers. While mini-humbuckers (like those found on Les Paul Deluxes) utilize adjustable pole pieces and an underlying bar magnet, true Firebird pickups are built with dual Alnico bar magnets placed directly inside the coils.

• The Perfect Middle Ground: The pickups are a perfect combination of humbucker throat without being dark or muddy. They offer a unique voicing that captures the warmth and power of a humbucker while maintaining single-coil clarity and articulation.
• Musically Balanced Top-End: Standard mini-humbuckers or bright single-coils can easily sound ice-picky or shrill. Firebird pickups retain top-end chime and articulate note definition while remaining smooth, sweet, and incredibly usable across drive, crunch, and clean setups without ever sounding harsh - giving you the true Firebird tone without the 60-cycle hum.

Condition & Playability

Frets have little to no wear. Plays great with low, comfortable action and complete hardware stability. As pictured, there are a few minor dings here and there and the usual slight patina/wear on the gold hardware. Some light yellowing on the lacquer near the headstock area from a wall hanger, adding to its authentic VOS character. Case has signs of wear but is fully functional all latches working.
