The EarthQuaker Devices Dirt Transmitter – Rancho De La Luna Limited Edition celebrates 30 years of the iconic Joshua Tree recording studio, renowned for its connection to artists such as Queens of the Stone Age, Eagles of Death Metal, and earthlings?.
In early 2023, EarthQuaker founder Jamie Stillman was invited by Dave Catching—the legendary guitarist, producer, and owner of Rancho De La Luna—to join a recording session for the studio’s anniversary album. During these sessions, the Dirt Transmitter played a central role in shaping the fuzz tones on numerous tracks, earning praise from the studio’s elite cast of musicians.
This limited-edition reissue pays homage to that collaboration, combining the classic Dirt Transmitter circuit with exclusive Rancho De La Luna artwork by artist Mike Egan, specially commissioned for this release.

The Story Behind the Pedal
First released in 2008, the Dirt Transmitter quickly became a cult favourite among fuzz enthusiasts. Its combination of unique low-gain silicon transistors and a flexible Bias control delivered an expressive palette of textures—from rich, full-bodied fuzz to glitchy, torn-speaker tones.
After being discontinued in 2017, the Dirt Transmitter’s return was inspired by its heavy use during the Rancho De La Luna sessions. The collaboration between Dave Catching, Jamie Stillman, and Mike Egan brings this legendary fuzz back in a stunning, collectible form that captures the spirit of the desert studio where so much musical magic has been made.
