This first year Gibson L-48 archtop acoustic guitar was made in 1946 and has the "Script" Gibson logo that was only used in 1946 and early 1947. These first year L48's have maple back and sides and solid spruce tops and are excellent sounding guitars. This is has been professionally set up and sounds excellent with a loud open tone and low and comfortable action. The original finish shows some fairly heavy cosmetic wear and finish checking and there are a few repaired sides cracks. The tuners are original but the plastic tips have been changed and there are some small holes in the pickguard. The bridge and tailpiece are original. The back of the neck shows some heavier wear but has no cracks or repairs and someone installed an end-pin in the neck heel. The guitar comes with a non original hard shell case.
