Polyend Step in detail

With Step, Polyend presents a sample-based drum machine in pedal format. The way it works combines the classic TR grid programming offered by most drum computers today with the convenient switching of rhythms using a foot switch, as offered by pure preset drum machines from the guitar sector. The rhythms (patterns) are organized in songs. A total of up to 1000 songs can be saved, each containing 16 patterns. A pattern has a length of 16 steps and consists of four tracks. By default, Step contains over 250 Factory patterns from 18 genres. The sound generation is based entirely on samples; over 1500 samples are stored in 170 Drum kits. There is more than enough memory for additional samples and drum kits. There are several parameters for each track that can be used to influence the selected sample. In addition to volume, panorama, sample rate reduction, FX send, filter and Overdrive, you have access to typical sample settings such as start and end points or tuning. The sequencer is equipped with various MIDI effects such as eg. Chance (probability), Randomizer (random), Step (repetition of individual triggers) and Repeater (repetition of sequencer steps). These add variety to the patterns without the need to program another pattern. The Step connections should be self-explanatory, the audio input processes mono and stereo signals with line or guitar/bass level. The audio input is used for the pedal drummer's actual purpose as a link between level processing and rhythmic accompaniment. If a drum computer is too complex for you and a preset pedal doesn't offer enough, you'll find just the right niche between the two worlds here and can add your own grooves to the Jam session at Bass.
