About This Model
The Yamaha NP-12 is a 61-key portable keyboard from the Piaggero series, built around Yamaha's AWM Stereo Sampling sound engine and offering 64-note polyphony. Its unweighted, piano-style keys feature adjustable touch sensitivity across three levels plus an off setting, making it flexible for different playing styles. Ten onboard voices cover grand piano, electric piano, organ, strings, vibraphone, and harpsichord, with Dual (Layer) mode allowing two voices to be combined simultaneously. Four types of digital reverb, a built-in metronome, and a one-track MIDI recorder round out the feature set, while transposition and octave shift add further versatility. Dual 2.5W speakers handle playback, and a headphone output, sustain pedal jack, and USB-to-Host connection cover the essential I/O. Weighing just 4.5 kg and capable of running on six AA batteries for up to 16 hours, the NP-12 is designed for portability above all.
