Boutique pedal maker Darkglass created one of the finest bass amplifiers on the market with its Microtubes 900 amp head. The Finnish company’s amp, which debuted in 2016, is an all-analog pre-amplifer and a Class D power module (more efficient than other amps). Bass players can use the right side of the module to control the clean tone, with features like Master, Gain, and 4-Band EQ controls, while the left side offers an extra channel that allows players to add compression, tube break up, harmonics, and distortion.
