Roland S550 – 12-bit Analog Rack Sampler from 1987The S550 is the Rack Variant of the very popular S50 Keyboard Sampler but with double the RAM.Verkaufe einiges von meinem privaten Audio Equipment, (Nichtraucher Homestudio) welches ich wegen Verkleinerung nicht mehr nutze! (Deutsche Interessenten schreibt mich bitte vorher an !!!! - Deal ;) )IM SELLING/SHIPPING TO EUROPE ONLY ! NO UK, NO US, Switzerland contact me first !Non Smoking Studio !The more unknown but better sounding Competition to the AKAI 12-Bit Samplers like S612 and S700. This sampler also could be used via Mouse and Monitor which is 100% not comparable with those tiny Akai Sampler Displays !Latest Firmware (OS.2.0)The old Firmware Chips were soldered onto the Board. Now they are socketed. Which mean that 99% of these Sampler will have older Firmware. You will get the old Firmware Chip as well when buying this Sampler.SCSIAn SCSI Card with DB-25/D-Sub 25 is installed for connecting HDDs or CD Roms etc. or even modern ZuluSCSI microSD USB Drives. (to power the ZuluSCSI (5v) a fitting Micro-USB Cable will be delivered with the Sampler just in case you would want to connect a ZuluSCSI Drive Emulator!)You will also get an Iomega 100MB ZIP Drive with 3 Zip Disks full with sound with this Sampler and a fitting DB25 Cable to connect it. These are perfect for this Sampler as the S550 can only access a max of 80 MB HDD Disk drives/Images. (Not like newer Sampler like Akai S1000 which can access 500MB HDDs, but remember this was 1987, the beginning of SCSI)VGA Videoout BoardThere is a VGA Board installed. The integrated “Video RGB” Cable needs to be connected. Then you can connect the board directly to an old CRT VGA Monitor or you could buy a Video Converter Box and convert the RGB Signal to DVI or even HDMI and use modern flat screen Displays. (The color TFTMonitor on the fotos is connected like this but its only as an example. This Auction wont include the Monitor, neither a Mouse with this Sampler). Gotek Floppy DriveYou also get a Gotek Drive instead of the old, near 40 Years old Floppy Disk Drive. (The Gotek USB Drive is also packed with heaps of Sound Disks.)Because of that the BootDisk (which is always needed to use the Sampler) is now a Gotek Disk Image. So you can also copy these to your computer as a backup and never have to worry about a damaged or missing Boot Disk. Also even if a SCSI Drive is connected you still always need to boot from the Gotek Disk image first !!!! Its mandatory ! SCSI is only installed and available after you boot from the Gotek Disk image. (Look at the Monitor Pictures!) Note:Also it is 100% Mandatory that you always boot the Disk Image called “CD5 System Vers. 1.0” and NOT the “HD System”. However may confusing (and illogical) this sounds (and whatever Roland did there back then) but is 100% necessary, otherwise SCSI wont be available!! The Original 2 Pin Power Cable (EU) is included as well of course.A Manual will be delivered also.Caution:I just say it once again. In order to properly use this Sampler with Monitor and Mouse (and not just via the internal LCD Display) you need to have a MSX Roland MU-1 Mouse (or a USB/PS2 to MSX or compatible Mouse adaptor) to connect a Mouse to this Sampler AND a Video Converter Box if you want to use a modern color TFT Monitor). Otherwise its not much Fun! (have a look at this website here for more insider infos on the MSX Mouse: audiocontrol.org/roland/s330/mu-1-mouse/)Its def. better if you have some “Skills” in electronics or Computers. I wont be responsible if you cant use the Sampler because YOU cant connect it to your hardware. I can be no help there as there are so many possibilies to connect those. But as seen on the Photos this works fine with me. The Sampler works great with SCSI and Mouse and Monitor. However because of the age of this Sampler i cant be 100% certain that everything works. I tested it for hours. Did load and save samples from the Zip and Gotek Drives and worked flawlessly. (As seen on the Photos). So I just assume that everything will work fine.Achtung.
